I am a New Jersey state certified Health & Physical Education Teacher and have been teaching Physical Education and Health to neuro-typical, autistic and other special needs populations ranging in age from 3-21 since 2008. I have taught Yoga to adults and children since 1999 and am dually certified to do so. I am a registered member of the Yoga Alliance and have a B.A in Physical Education and Adult Fitness. I'm also a licensed Massage Therapist trained in medical massage, acupressure and manual lymphatic drainage. I am a member of several professional organizations including the Yoga Alliance, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), American Alliance for Health Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) and the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP). One of my goals as a teacher is to instill in my students a love of movement by exposing them to as many forms as possible and allowing them to discover what they're passionate about.
My love of sports and movement came from growing up with two brothers on a quiet dead end street in an all boy neighborhood. By default, If I wanted to play, I had to get into their games which were mainly football, basketball, baseball, tag, ice hockey and tree climbing. I did eventually take a ballet class and immediately fell in love with dance, which later lead to gymnastics. I still love to dance and have choreographed countless dance-fitness routines over the years as a certified group exercise instructor. My appreciation for sports and all movement forms is still strong as I currently cross-train with cycling, hiking, running, zumba and hip-hop dancing, tennis, swimming and yoga. I still love to get out in the yard and throw a football, baseball, la crosse ball or frisbee around with my husband and two sons. Any and all movement is good!
In addition to teaching Physical Education and Health at Celebrate The Children, I also teach Yoga and meditation privately to typical and special needs adults and children.
